The Sun |
I thought my favorite color was red; but upon review of some of my works, it
appears I also favor yellow. I discovered over the years I have
several of my paintings dedicated to the sun.

Sunrise

This painting was originally done with shapes and colors in a combination that I
liked; but was unnamed. I finally named it Sunrise to satisfy
people's curiosity of what it represented. Now they look at it and
wonder how it depicts a sunrise.
This painting won an Excellent red ribbon in its class at the
Hunt County Fair in 1989.

This painting fell into the same category as the one above; so I named it
Sunset.

Early Morning

Now this painting had an inspiration. With my original
Black Dog in a Coal Mine hanging on the wall in the bedroom,
the early morning sun coming through the window was partially blocked
by the drapes, but a sliver of sunlight would fall on the wall over
the dog painting.

A mutual friend asked my artist friend to paint her a seascape.
I told her I could do her an abstract seascape indicative
of the current times. The time period was during the Desert
Storm Operation in Iraq. This was my planned painting of a
seascape with the grey portion at the bottom being the white sandy beach
soaked with oil, the black portion was the oil covered ocean water extending
to the horizon where the sun was rising beneath a white cloud cover.
For some reason she chose the more traditional non-abstract
seascape from my artist friend. However, I remain undaunted
and still plan to paint this one day.
